Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour two round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sugar.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Gradually stir in milk until smooth.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry mixture gently until just mixed.
- Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for about 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- In a mixing bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Once cakes are cooled, stack layers with frosting between each layer and frost the top and sides.
