Description

Indulge in the rich chocolate goodness of this Hot Cocoa Layer Cake, a delightful dessert that brings warmth and nostalgia to every gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk (or almond/oat milk)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour two round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Gradually stir in milk until smooth.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry mixture gently until just mixed.
  5. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for about 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. In a mixing bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  8. Once cakes are cooled, stack layers with frosting between each layer and frost the top and sides.
