Description

Indulge in the delightful combination of caramelized apples and crunchy hazelnuts atop a flaky pastry, creating a warm, comforting dessert perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup chopped roasted hazelnuts
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and heat an oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into wedges. Toss them with vanilla extract in a bowl and set aside.
  3. In the skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sugar and stir until it turns a lovely amber color (approximately 5 minutes).
  4. Carefully arrange apple wedges in the caramel mixture and sprinkle chopped hazelnuts on top. Simmer for about 10 minutes until apples begin to soften.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface, then drape it over the apples in the skillet, tucking in the edges.
  6. Transfer to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before flipping onto a serving plate. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
