Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Warm milk in a saucepan over low heat until just about to simmer. Remove from heat, stir in sugar and active dry yeast, and let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Punch down risen dough on a lightly floured surface. Roll into a rectangle about half an inch thick.
- Spread softened butter evenly over the rolled-out dough.
- In a bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle evenly over buttered dough.
- Starting from one edge, tightly roll dough into a log shape. Cut into even pieces (about 2 inches wide) and place cut-side up in a greased baking dish.
- Cover rolls again with plastic wrap or towel and let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake rolls for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, prepare icing by mixing powdered sugar with milk and vanilla extract.
- Drizzle icing over warm rolls before serving.
