Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup melted butter
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Gradually add granulated sugar, salt, and flour while mixing until a sticky dough forms.
- Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place kneaded dough into an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and ground cinnamon; set aside.
- Punch down the risen dough gently to release air bubbles.
- Roll out dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Brush melted butter over the surface before sprinkling with the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly.
- Roll up the rectangle tightly from one end to another like a jelly roll. Slice into pieces about two inches thick.
- Arrange slices cut-side up in a greased baking pan.
- Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for approximately 25 minutes or until golden brown on top. Cool slightly before serving.
