Description

Indulge in the flavors of fall with this delightful pizza that combines savory sausage with sweet butternut squash, all topped with gooey cheese and fresh sage.

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup butternut squash, peeled and cubed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup Italian sausage, crumbled (or substitute ground turkey)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Fresh sage leaves, to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven now.
  2. Toss the cubed butternut squash with olive oil, salt, and pepper on a baking sheet. Roast in the oven for about 20 minutes until tender and caramelized.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, crumble in the sausage and cook until browned (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface to about 12 inches wide. Transfer it to a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Spread a thin layer of olive oil over the crust. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese across the surface.
  6. Add roasted butternut squash cubes and cooked sausage on top before finishing with remaining cheese and fresh sage leaves.
  7. Slide your assembled pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 12-15 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serve hot!
