Description

Honey Garlic Short Ribs with Star Anise is a comforting dish featuring tender beef short ribs coated in a sweet and savory glaze, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lbs beef short ribs
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 whole star anise
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and star anise until well combined.
  2. Marinate the Ribs: Place beef short ribs in a resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour marinade over them and ensure they are well coated. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least two hours (overnight is best).
  3. Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  4. Sear the Ribs: Heat a splash of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove ribs from marinade (reserve liquid) and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
  5. Bake the Ribs: Transfer seared ribs to a baking dish or Dutch oven. Pour reserved marinade over them and cover tightly with foil. Bake for about three hours until fork-tender.
  6. Serve: Once done baking, let the ribs rest for ten minutes before serving on plates drizzled with leftover sauce from the pan.
