Description

Indulge in this warm, golden dessert that perfectly merges a fluffy cake texture with rich, sticky date syrup—a sweet hug for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup milk (whole or plant-based)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup pure date syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder until combined. Set aside.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the granulated sugar and melted butter until creamy. Add the milk and vanilla extract; stir until smooth.
  4. Bring it All Together: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture while stirring gently. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Prepare the Date Syrup: Warm the date syrup in a small saucepan over low heat until easily pourable, about one minute.
  6. Assemble and Bake: Pour half of the batter into the greased baking dish and drizzle half of the warm date syrup over it. Layer with the remaining batter and top with the rest of the syrup. Bake for approximately 30-35 minutes or until golden brown on top.
