Description

Warm up your evenings with these delicious Swedish meatballs, perfectly seasoned and enveloped in a creamy gravy that guarantees comfort and satisfaction at every gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb medium ground beef
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, nutmeg, allspice, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  2. Wet your hands slightly and form the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs in batches for about 5–7 minutes until golden brown on all sides.
  4. Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, whisk together flour and beef broth until smooth. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Stir in sour cream until thickened.
  6. Return the browned meatballs to the skillet with sauce. Simmer for about 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  7. Serve warm over mashed potatoes or egg noodles, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
